There are coastal cities and cities along rivers and Perth has kinda the best of both worlds. Some say Swan River got it´s name from the black swans found here, some say it´s the shape of the river, getting a swan-like wide belly just south of the city. In fact West Australia used to be the “Swan River Colony” until 1832.
As we finally managed to assemble cycles for the whole family, a ride around the Swan River was just a perfect Saturday outing. Shure, we didn´t do the “full” round via Freemantle but just a nice 10 km along CBD with dinner at the Windsor in South Perth (and of course a stop at every single playground along the way…). A lovely day!
